Updated Stage 4 COVID-19 Response (August)
As you may be aware, the Australian Physiotherapy Association and DHHS have confirmed that physiotherapy can continue to operate under Victorian Stage 4 restrictions.
I have a scheduled appointment- am I allowed to attend? Is my appointment essential?
Yes.
The DHHS have suggested that a face to face physiotherapy appointment is deemed ‘essential’ if the absence or delay of treatment would result in a significant change or deterioration in the patient’s functional independence that would necessitate an escalation of care.
Our physios are making clinical judgements on an individual basis as to who can be seen face to face. We are also offering telehealth consultations for non-essential patients where appropriate.
Please be assured we will contact you prior to your scheduled appointment to confirm whether you will be seen face to face or via telehealth. If you would prefer not to attend in person, we can make alternate arrangements- but please let us know in advance.
Clayton Physio is outside of my 5km radius- can I still attend my appointment?
Yes.
The DHHS have confirmed that medical appointments are one of the few reasons you can leave your 5km radius. If this is the case, please let us know and we are happy to send through a confirmation email if you would like written proof of your appointment time in case you are required to explain why you are outside 5km from your home by authorities.
I need someone to drive me to my appointment- is this okay?
Yes.
If you are unable to drive yourself to your medical appointment you are permitted to have a family member or carer drive you to the clinic. However, we will ask that they do not enter the clinic and wait for you in the car, unless it is absolutely necessary that they attend (e.g for translation purposes)
We are continually updating our hygiene and safety response in alignment with DHHS and APA recommendations and we have prepared our COVID-Safe Plan to reflect the actions we have taken within the clinic to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and the wider community.
We thank you again for your ongoing support and understanding in what has been a challenging year for the heath services industry.
